The course is designed to offer students basic knowledge values concerning human rights in general but focusing on Africa and Uganda in particular. The course also explores human rights as a development issue whose absence would mean the absence of the other. Hence the human rights approach which is becoming very popular in development work especially by NGOs is given prominence in this course. The course also introduces students to the various human rights conventions both at international and continental levels and how these have or are being implemented.
