This course is concerned with the theory and practice of urban planning in the societies undergoing rapid economic, social, environmental and spatial change. It examines the phenomenon and processes of rapid urban growth and the nature of planning interventions within a broader framework of political, economic and cultural factors, contrasting development paradigms and the process of globalization.
