This module provides a discourse of Livestock production systems and their impact on the environment. It examines the complexity of agro-ecosystems and looks at options for integrating Livestock into sustainable mixed farming systems. The module discusses the following:

Understanding the biological, social and economic aspects of various aspects of livestock production systems with a view of developing appropriate technologies.
Role of livestock in mixed agro-ecosystems
Livestock-Environment interactions
Use of appropriate technologies, policies and regulations in mitigation negative environmental and social impacts of livestock production systems.
