This course covers the principal definitions of geography, agriculture, and development, discussing the role of agriculture in economic development, major agricultural systems of the world, from primitive agriculture to factory farming through traditional and modern systems. It also covers aspects of major developments in world agriculture, focusing on the agricultural revolution, cooperative farming movements, the green revolution, and major agrarian reforms including the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOS) in agriculture and scientific organic farming. This course finally addresses issues relating to the salient features of Uganda’s agriculture, including programmes of agricultural modernization, agricultural research (NARO), NAADS, Operation Wealth Creation and Parish Development Model (PDM)

GEO 62103 Principle of Resource Development and Conservation  (Aug 2024)

This course introduces students to the concepts concept of a resource, Resource allocation, Resource development, and Resource conservation. It examines ecological principles governing man’s resource use, Changing technology and resource exploitation, Conflicting views and Geo-information for resource management with case studies from east Africa, Africa etc

GEO 62102 Spatial Organization and Analysis (Aug 2024)

This course explores the concepts spatial organization, approaches of spatial science and addresses the role of human beings in spatial organization, spatial structures and spatial processes.
