MADS 3114 NGO Management and Sustainable Communities (June 2024-Jan 2025 & Sept -Oct 2024)
The idea of managing NGOs is a recent concern among practitioners and academicians. There is a growing interest in analysing and developing NGO management. The premise on which this module is build is the fact that good organisational management is essential for the wellbeing of human kind and effective management of resources for effective human development. Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) play an increasingly important role in all aspects of development. In recent years, Non-Governmental Organisations have vastly increased in number and scope. They have become actors in the worlds of politics, industry and commerce, influencing both development agendas and policy implementation. Managing and leading NGOs is also becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. More and more NGOs are beginning to realise that a widening range of knowledge, skills and strategies are necessary to achieve results, to enhance their impact and to remain effective in the work they do. NGOs are influential in communities and grassroots activities, in policymaking, planning and implementation. In today's highly competitive environment of limited resources for the public sector, effective leaders and creative management of NGOs are crucial.
