Course Description

This course introduces engineering students to the fundamental principles, theories, and practices of management, with an emphasis on their application in technical and engineering environments. It bridges the gap between technical expertise and managerial competence, equipping future engineers with the skills needed to plan, organize, lead, and control resources effectively within engineering organizations and projects.

Students will explore the core functions of management—planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling—alongside topics tailored to engineering practice, including project management, resource allocation, decision-making under uncertainty, quality management, and organizational behavior. Emphasis is placed on developing leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills essential for engineers who will eventually supervise teams, manage projects, or transition into managerial and entrepreneurial roles.

Real-world case studies, engineering project simulations, and practical exercises are used throughout the course to demonstrate how management principles apply to engineering contexts such as product development, construction, manufacturing, and technology-driven enterprises.

Upon successful completion, students will be able to integrate managerial thinking into engineering practice, manage cross-functional teams, and contribute effectively to organizational goals as both technical experts and emerging leaders.
