Course Description: The course presents to the students the basic themes and research involving educational administration/leadership. It therefore involves discussion of issues like: administration and management of organizations [schools], elements of school administration, skills and techniques to be employed in carrying out effective school administration.

 

Course Objectives: By the end of the course students will be able to:

Ø  Discuss the meaning and scope of management and administration, especially in secondary schools.

Ø  Appreciate the fundamental tools of educational administration.

Ø  Analyze concerns of human relations, leadership and leadership roles in learning institutions.

Ø  Evaluate how efficient functioning of a learning institution [school] can be encouraged and motivated.

 

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course students will be able to:

Ø  Demonstrate the importance and use of the elements of school administration in schools.

Ø  Appreciate how different administration and management styles can be applied to different situations in the administration of schools.

Ø  Analyze different techniques that can be used in school administration and leadership/ management.

Ø  Discuss how change in the educational institutions/schools can be managed using the different skills for managing change.
