Health care systems around the world struggle with rising costs and uneven quality, thus this
course aims to empower learners in health systems strengthening to maximize value for
patients and their families and pursue the best outcomes at the lowest cost. The health
profession performs duties in the context of community levels, other institutions, national
and international levels. This requires inspiring leaders, sharing knowledge, engage
stakeholders/partnerships to improve community health. This interpretative course is a competency-based skill on how to improve the performance of health systems in an interdisciplinary way. The course covers the basic concepts, principles of health system management, and its practice in Uganda. This is mainly delivered as lectures, tutorials, and group work. We aim to develop the learners’ management skills, leadership
attributes, mutual learning, cross-cultural communication, and shared progress to improve the quality of health and healthcare delivery with collaborative expertise.
