MAE4208 INTEGRATED CROP AND PEST MANAGEMENT

The course will deal with the interaction between the host, pest, environment, and the damage on commodities, as the key principle. Variation in agro-ecosystem conditions will be discussed in relation to pest and diseases occurrence. Issues of climate change and emerging pests will be covered. The need for integrating approaches in managing pests and diseases will be considered. Issues of pest resistance and modern biotechnological advances will be presented and discussed. Ethical issues related to pesticide use will be covered. Current situations in the agro-ecosystem will be handled by students during their special projects. To be updated by the Lecturer.
