Welcome, {USER_FIRSTNAME}, to the Academic Reading and Writing module.
My name is Dr. Juliet Ndibazza and I will be your instructor for this module.
This module is designed to reinforce reading and writing skills; and to introduce students to writing for graduate studies at university, and for future academic purpose.
The module starts on Friday August 28th and ends on Sunday September 13th. This module is largely a practical one. It is a blended module that will be conducted synchronously and asynchronously on Moodle, and at the Rubaga campus.
There will be a Continuous Academic Assessment (CAA), before a final examination. The final examination will be scheduled at the end of the module (date to be communicated). The CAA will be evaluated as a composite grade (50% group essay + 50% class assignments). The pass score for each of the examinations; the CAA and the final examination is 60%.
Take note that similar to a face-to-face course a blended course requires significant time and commitment from you. Take careful note of the submission deadlines for the class assignments, as these will contribute to your CAA grade. If you find yourself having trouble with the course material, do not hesitate to contact me through the Moodle platform.
General questions about the course should be posted on the "Student Lounge", while topic specific questions should be posted under the relevant topic. If you do not receive a response back within 24 hours, resend the message as it may have gotten lost in cyber queue.
For students new to online learning, you can find an introduction to Google classroom, attached here.
Looking forward to being your instructor for this module.
