The aim of this course is to help the students explore and gain a solid understanding of the key issues and contentions that make up criminal law as we know it. Familiarity with and understanding of key cases are integral to the learning of criminal law; directing and depicting the core principles and issues of controversy in the law.
This course provides introductory elements of criminal law. It introduces the student to general doctrines and principles of criminal law, which then provides a clear understanding of the boundaries between criminal law and other areas of law with a criminal or quasi-criminal function. The course directs the students to the purpose of criminal law, its sources and nature.
